PlasticSCM, the distributed development and software change management system from Codice Software, offers support for Visual Studio and ACL based security. Read on to learn about these features and their benefits...

MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO
The PlasticSCM system is compatible with MS Visual Studio versions 2003 through 2008. Users can compare files and begin new versions through Visual Studio. With VS 2005 and later, many additional functions are available, such as conducting merges and starting new branches.
PlasticSCM clients can access the system through not only Visual Studio, but also the PlasticSCM GUI, Oracle JDeveloper, Eclipse, or the command line. It supports many other third party tools as well, such as Bugzilla and Cruise Control.

ACL BASED SECURITY
ACLs (Access Control Lists) can be applied to all objects in a PlasticSCM system, which allows for greater flexibility in setting up a security program. The ACL based security system makes it possible to specify exactly what files each member of the development team is permitted to change, view, rename, and so on.
The concept of ACL based security is to have a list of actions each user (or user group) can and cannot take with regard to individual objects on the server. For example, non-administrative users might be allowed to view PROGRAM.H but not change it, alter its permissions, or rename it.
The fact that PlasticSCM supports ACL based security and MS Visual Studio makes it an even better choice for conducting software change management and distributed development projects
