All these signs indicate that there is something wrong with your .PST file. If a .PST file goes beyond the size limit of 2 GB, chances are it will become corrupt. Another reasons behind .PST file corruption include virus attacks, application malfunction, power surges etc. In such scenarios, it is required for you to undertake pst repair by using Inbox Repair Tool. However, if this inbuilt tool doesn't serve the purpose and you are still having a tough time with MS Outlook, don't worry. You can go to the Internet and search for an efficient pst recovery tool.

As a practical case, consider you try and open your Outlook account to verify certain facts from an e-mail before going for a meeting with a client. To your shock, your Outlook displays the below error message:

"Unable to display the folder,[path]Outlook.pst could not be accessed, access denied."

As a result, you are not able to check a single mail or any other component of your MS Outlook, forget about retrieving information.

Cause

Your Outlook might have displayed the above error if the .PST file has got corrupt or damaged.

Resolution

In order to resolve the above issue, you can try the following pst repair techniques:

II.Double-click Scanpst.exe file which is usually located at drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
III.Enter the name of the .PST file you want to repair or Browse the same file
IV.Click Start. The Inbox Repair Tool will scan the file and report the errors, if any.

1)After you have run the Inbox Repair Tool, now you must recover the repaired items. Create a new .PST file so that you can move the recovered items in your new .PST file.
I.Start Outlook by using the profile that contains the .PST file which you tried to repair
II.On the View or Go menu, click Folder List, you will find two folders viz Recovered Personal Folders and Lost and Found
III.Create a new .PST file and drag the recovered items from the Lost and Found folder to your new Personal Folders
IV.After you are done, you can remove the Recovered Personal Folders from your profile which also contains Lost and Found folder.
