Software Presentations are made after software has been released in public to the user so that they have a first hand idea of what the software is and if it is applicable to their niche and the features that are available therein. These presentations are mostly on videos particulary in the taste of YouTube.

A good demonstration therefore has to lend towards the developers credibility as well as to be able to distinguish between the competition.

Why demos

Most software is written as a solution to an existing or underlying problem.

This then should be the main focal point of the demo in illustrating the need for the software.
It should be current and applicable to the solution of the software problem at hand, and should showcase it's overall usefulness.

Presentations

While giving demonstrations all matter/ evidence that has to be shown to the targeted audience (meaning the audience that will benefit from the software shown) should be thoroughly researched and known.
Pay attention to details in choosing the venue, create the right atmosphere, as best as possible demo on a BIG screen.
Know your software inside out because users will field questions that are seemingly out of the blue.
Present it in an entertaining manner so that it interests the audience with less emphasis on technical details These all can be dealt with later at the question hour.
Lastly do have back up plans in case all does not go well.

Some software do not need the ruse of presentations as MurGeeMon available at http://www.murge.com/MurGeeMon/ as they are simple to install and user friendly in a way that their operation in itself is sufficient.
