When buying a new computer or first installing the internet onto your new computer, it is very important to not completely disregard the idea of any infections working their way into your system. It is true that many people, although aware of viruses do not take its strength of destruction at all seriously and prefer not to bother wasting the time to download antivirus software or using extra money to buy one.

Firstly many viruses can infect your computer in many ways, and can be destructive in a number of different ways, once they have worked their way into the computer's system it is found that many computer abnormalities can quickly start to take place causing you a great deal of stress.

There are hundreds or different viruses that can immobilize your computer on many different degree of levels. For instance the computer may suffer from much more cosmetic damage such as causing the system to run slow or freeze, taking control of the sound toggle and/or re-mapping the keyboard so that certain keys are not what they appear to be. These viruses can also have a stronger effect on a computer's system by deleting various files, some of which can be very important. They can attempt to access hard drives making error messages appear not enabling you perform certain actions like saving onto disk, or recognising a disk. Viruses can also adjust your system's preferences with concerns to size, as they can decrease and change file and memory size.

A lot of these viruses can be contracted by mainly using the internet without the proper antivirus software installed, however running various disks with unknown viruses in your computer can cause many viruses to take control and leave you with a very serious problem. It is very important to take the time to research into various antivirus packages and software and either download or buy them. Many online downloadable versions can suffice but if you are not completely virus literate then perhaps buying an antivirus package will suit you best as it then will include full support for any type of virus that your computer may contract.
