Ultra Defragger - Ultra Unsafe! Why It's Necessary To Remove This Rogue

Submitted by bonobo

Cleaning up your computer for a better experience is a must, but one program that simply cannot help is Ultra Defragger. Advertised as the way to optimize performance on your computer, the bottom line is that this rogue defragmenter can only create additional problems and security holes on your computer.

What is Ultra Defragger?

Defragmenting your computer on occasion can be a fairly helpful process. Files are stored on your computer in tiny pieces, and sometimes, the spaces between each of those tiny pieces can get quite large. Defragmenting helps pull everything a bit closer together, which speeds up the overall processes of your machine.

The key to success, though, is using a reputable program to help, and while Ultra Defragger certainly advertises itself as such, it certainly can't provide that function or any other that you might need. It can reach deep into your system and disable your antivirus software, and because it launches as soon as you turn your computer on, there's almost no way to work around the effects of this program.

Ultra Defragger is related to Quick Defragmenter and HDD Defragmenter, both of which are also rogue defragmentation programs. It is even possible to have all three of these programs installed on your computer at once.

Symptoms of a Larger Problem

If you do have Ultra Defragger installed on your machine, there are several things you're likely to notice right away.

· One of the first things you may see is the actual scan mode. As soon as Windows has started, you'll see the screen for the scanner, and the results may be rather troublesome. They'll suggest you have a number of different errors on your machine. According to Ultra Defragger, the only way to fix these problems is purchasing the full version of the program. This action, however, does little to optimize the performance of your computer or even get the additional symptoms of the program under control.

· Another thing you may notice with Ultra Defragger is that it has the ability to block legitimate programs. From Internet Explorer to Notepad, this rogue defragmenter can stop almost anything you try to start in an attempt to keep you from running software that may help find and eliminate it from your machine.

· False alerts are perhaps the scariest aspect of this program. Most of them suggest you have a number of different system problems. Here's the text of a few of the most common:

o Windows detected a hard drive problem.

o A hard drive error occurred while starting the application.

o Windows cannot find notepad. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

o Requested registry access is not allowed. Registry defragmentation required

Read time of hard drive clusters less than 500 ms

32% of HDD space is unreadable

Bad sectors on hard drive or damaged file allocation table

GPU RAM temperature is critically high. Urgent RAM memory optimization is required to prevent system crash.

Drive C initializing error

RAM temperature is 83 C. Optimization is required for normal operation.

Hard drive doesn't respond to system commands

Data Safety Problem. System Integrity is at risk.

Registry Error - Critical Error

o Critical Error

Windows can't find hard disk space. Hard drive error

o Critical Error!

Windows was unable to save all the data for the file System32496A8300. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware.

o Critical Error

A critical error has occurred while indexing data stored on hard drive. System restart required.

o System Restore

The system has been restored after a critical error. Data integrity and hard drive integrity verification required.

Each alert, blocked program, and scan is designed to frighten users into purchasing the full version of the program. That, however, is the last thing you want to do, as it could further affect the integrity of your system. Removing Ultra Defragger as soon as possible is the best way to handle the problem.
