Why You Need a Great Computer Repair ServiceSubmitted by SarahJensen Wed, 3 Jun 2009
As good as computers are these days, it's inevitable that at some point - they will give you some grief! While there are many courses of action you can take that will minimise the damage done during some sort of computer failure (such as backing up all your data) - there may come a day where you have to place your PC in the hands of an expert.
Some people will spend hours surfing the web in an attempt to self-diagnose the problem and repair the computer themselves. Others will ask a knowledgeable collegue or their family friend who ‘works in IT' to have a look at it. While these options can sometimes be helpful in resolving the issue - many times they are not. You could even be faced with the problem of your helpful friend creating more problems than there was to begin with! This is why it is recommended that you take your computer to a reputable computer repair service. They will be able to diagnose and in many cases, resolve the problem in half the time it would take you to load up the computer and begin surfing the web! The other benefit of computer repair services is that they will offer a warranty on labour. Generally this warranty will be about 7 days. This is to cover both of you. It covers you in the event that there are problems caused by their repairs. And it covers them in case you repeatedly cause the problem yourself! Finding a reputable pc repair service is very easy - there are quite a few around these days. It would be advisable to choose one that has a fully equipped workshop on site. This means they don't have to send your computer on to any third party for repairs - something you definitely want to avoid. You should also make sure your repairer has a lot of spare parts in stock. If they don't you could be facing a lengthy wait on parts before you get your computer back. If possible, always back up your data fully before taking your computer in for a service or repair. Many computer repair services will not accept liability for lost data. Especially the cost effective or cheap repairers - they wont have time to back up all of your data before they begin working on your machine. They can offer such a service - but you will end up paying for the time it takes them to do it. As you should have some form of backup process in place anyway, this should not be too difficult. And if you don't, why not ask them about data backup solutions when you are in there. All you will need to do is explain the type of data you want to back up and they will be able to recommend the best solution for your needs. Above all, look for a reliable service with computer technicians who will provide a written report on your repairs and who are happy to explain everything to you in plain English. If your current service provider doesn't offer these then you really should start shopping around! About the Author
