Anime: A Style of Art like No Other

Anime art is difficult to miss when you see it. In fact, unlike any other animation style, you will know immediately that you are watching anime series as you turn on. Let's look at some important features that you will find with this animation style. One of the first things that many people notice is the character eyes. They like to be round and large. While not all anime characters has this standard of eye style, much of it does, even the newer movies. This eyes style can be credited to the anime father, Tezuka Osamu, who firstly designed Astro Boy (or Tetsuwan Atomu as many true fans of anime know him). As he was drawing the picture, it has been considered that Osamu was trying to imitate Betty Boop who had become very famous throughout Japan.

In fact, many early animations consist of characters that had larger eyes than you might have considered. The previous sketches of Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse for example have larger eyes than most current sketches do. As Tezuka Osamu's Astro Boy became very famous all around the world, the style was applied by many Japanese artists in the years to come. While many things about anime have changed over the years, those eyes provide anime away every single time.
The Archetypes

Another important thing that people usually considers about the anime style and fashion is that most character types have a certain look. If the character looks cute then they have the typical and distinctive eyes accented by facial features and rounded cheeks that looks a little crowded. If a character is considered idiot then everything about it is round. They have rounded head, round body and tiny small eyes. If the character is supposed to be wicked then you will see that almost all the roundness characteristics disappear. The eyes will again become smaller and lines will be much sharper. Art of anime has fascinated many people all over the years and while the techniques behind anime art have changed in the past few years. Creations are now computer assisted but the characteristic style of art remains the same.
The Facial Expressions

Almost every anime character has overstated facial expressions. For instance, if some character gets angry then you might observe pulsing veins on their faces. Embarrassed characters usually finish up sweating in the scene, with huge drops forming on the foreheads. Characters who feel surprise will give an expression that stays several seconds, far longer than one expect. It is through these facial expressions that anime artists hope to provide some emotional depth that is considered typical and classic to anime. Many observers refer anime as a form of art. As a visual medium, it puts large emphasis on visual styles. These fashion or style varies from studio to studio or artist to artist. Some names make general use of common stylization. For instance FLCL is known for its wild and exaggerated stylization. On the other hand, titles such as Jin-Roh or Only Yesterday have much more practical approaches, featuring few stylistic exaggerations.
