Blackjack Cheating: Casinos come down hardSubmitted by David Salt Fri, 16 Oct 2009
This is the time of year when many of the inhabitants of these sun-drenched islands of Great Britain but down their computer mice and log off from their favourite online casinos to engage in a bit of real time gambling in one of our favourite destinations; the wonderful city of sin, Las Vegas.
Over recent times many of the Las Vegas casinos have been victim to cheats at a variety of games including blackjack. As a result they have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and are most unhappy about it. Even when the cheats are caught and end up in prison, it is almost impossible for the casinos to retrieve their money. Now they have had enough, and are taking serious measures to ensure that future losses are minimised. If you get caught cheating at a Las Vegas casino, you might just be lucky enough to be handed over to the police and spend a year or so inside a tough American prison. On the other hand they might not report you to anyone… In order to stamp out cheating, the amount of surveillance a modern casino uses is staggering. Many hundreds of cameras are installed, and every move that a gambler makes may be watched or recorded for future observation. Big time cheats often have dealers and other floor staff in their team. These are used to perform such scams as false shuffles or revealing eye cards. Casino bosses are learning more about how these scams operate and are getting much better at spotting is happening. Card counting is not considered cheating, in fact it is perfectly legal if performed in the mind rather then by using some external device, but even so the casinos do their best to prevent it. Once detected the participant can be asked to leave, or he can have his betting limited to the table minimum in order to prevent him from taking advantage of the edge that card counting might give to him. Cheating at Las Vegas is not worth the risk. US jails are not nice places for the faint of heart. About the Author
Due to the nature of the casino game, many people have tried "cheating" at blackjack games in casinos. Players have tried to create a system that increaees their chances of winning, however, on an online casino game this is perhaps abit more difficult to do.
