Edmonton Oilers Tickets - Enjoy The Game

Submitted by reedstickets

The Edmonton Oilers is a professional ice hockey team based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In 1972, they became a founding member of the World Hockey Association and since 1979; they are a member of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team was originally named the Alberta Oilers, but with most of the games played in Edmonton, the name was changed to Edmonton Oilers, which was better suited.

With stars as Al Hamilton, defenseman and team captain, goalie Dave Dryden, forwards Blair Mac Donald and Bill Flett, the team gained popularity quickly. The Oilers joined the National Hockey League in 1979-80, along with three other WHA teams. With great physical strength, energy and a fantastic team, the Edmonton Oilers became one of the greatest teams in the history of hockey.

Ice hockey is the official national winter sport of Canada. The game is speedy and quite physical. It is played on ice. It is now more popular and played all year round on artificially created indoor ice rinks. The game tends to get dangerous and hence the players have to be equipped with protective equipments throughout the game.

Jerseys

The original 1972 design featured the traditional colors of blue and orange, with orange later reversed to being more dominant. On September 16 2007, the Oilers revealed their Reebok Edge jerseys during the Joey Moss cup, which is held annually before each preseason. The colors were copper and blue with a different style. There is an increased purchase of the Edmonton Oilers tickets and fans are eager to see their team’s new look.

The Edmonton Oilers play at Rexall Place, which has a capacity for 16839 people. It is an indoor arena in Edmonton. It is home to the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL, the Edmonton Rush of the NLL, and the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL. It was previously known as the Edmonton Coliseum, Northlands Coliseum, and Skyreach Centre. The Oilers have played at this venue since 1979. They used to earlier play at the now demolished Edmonton Gardens. Rexall place is known for its boisterous and faithful fans. Currently, it is the only NHL arena in which the team benches are on the same side as the press boxes. The 2008 National Lacrosse League All Star Game is going to be held at Rexall Place on March 16, 2008.

In 2006 season, the Oilers made the playoffs. They defeated the Wings in the first round. It was their first win in the playoff series since 1998. They then got into the Conference final, where they defeated the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Edmonton Oilers reached the Stanley cup finals but were defeated by the Carolina Hurricanes. Many stars then signed contracts with other clubs. Nevertheless, they managed to bring back some outstanding players like Fernando Pisane and Dwayne Roloson who were appointed as unrestricted free agents and who will probably help bring Oilers to the top once again.

Edmonton Oilers tickets are available online at competitive prices and you can get hold of their schedules, Rexall Place seating charts and directions, and Edmonton Oilers background and history.
