Atlantic City - Revival or Recession in 2009Submitted by willard_7ph Thu, 15 Jan 2009
Atlantic City has a lot of history and culture associated with it. This New Jersey city has probably witnessed the worst downfalls and has one of the greatest revival stories. As 2009 dawns, there is a new beginning set on the cards. However with the world economies on a toss, the question is all about whether the city will hold up and post a revival in the coming year.
For long, Atlantic City had been associated with the shore and the sandy beaches however other destinations like Miami overtook the position as most popular tourist spots. The increasing problems in the state and the city led to a situation where Atlantic City saw a sudden drop in the tourism as well as the economy but the spirit of the city was not to die so easily. With the legalization of casinos, the city started another revival story and a lot of other facilities started redeveloping around the gambling and the tourist sectors. Now, the world is experiencing turmoil in the economic status and with the coming year Atlantic City hopes to see a lot more positivity in store in terms of growth and prosperity. All of a sudden things are changing for the good as the city tries to find its lost identity; the once vacant hotel rooms are not enough to accommodate the visiting tourists as the city starts getting more limelight. Other than the gambling sector, tourism is emerging really strong, the Boardwalk Convention Hall, built in the 1920s is regaining the lost glory as the city’s trademark as it attracts a lot more visitors. The process of retrieval is complimented with well planned infrastructure in order to ensure that the city offers a long term prospects to the travelers and offers the visitors a lot more than just another family visit destination. Atlantic City has revamped a lot in order to try and attract a lot more out of state and foreign visitors to the luxuries that it has on offer. While the world is witnessing a steady and uncontrollable downfall, Atlantic City tries to pedal out to the growth and development mode. It has been a story of spirit against all odds, while the city was swiped off its major sources and resources it has bounced back. Arrival of 2009 surely has something in store for Atlantic City. It is already a hot spot for gambling and tourists and the city is hoping to revive a lot more of its lost pride.
