A game much better than Texas Hold'em where action is concerned is Omaha or Omaha Hi/Low. It is played almost identically to Hold'em except that the player receives 4 hole cards instead of 2. The additional 2 cards almost assure that the best hand available is out there somewhere. The Hi/Low versions make these various poker games even more fun. As the player who has hit tries to push the chasers out, the betting gets wild.
The strategy for these different types of poker games is significantly different though as you want to get involved in hands where you can scoop the pot. Scooping the pot does not mean covering only one side, it means winning both the Hi and Low hands. Due to all the variables and the 4 hole cards there is always a huge amount of money in the pot.

While there are many different types of poker games to choose from, an old favorite is 7 card stud. It is a game which has a Low and a Hi version. 2 cards are first distributed face down and then one with its face up. Every contender is dealt another card with its face up after one round of betting. This recurs till all the participants in the hand have 4 up cards and 2 down cards. After this stage of receiving the last down card, what happens is the final betting round.

Holdem Stud Poker is different from other poker games like Omaha as it is not a chaser's game. You must surrender if you cannot manage to build up a good hand by the time you are dealt the second up card. If you do not do that, you will lose. As it is necessary to keep in mind all the cards that have been dealt so far, this game requires brainpower too. You might end up making a useless effort by searching for a card which has already been folded. Pay attention and keep track of the cards on the board.

Razz is a poker game with a difference, just meant for people with bad luck. Here you are aiming for the worst possible cards. You can scoop the pot in Razz with A-2-3-4-6-7-8. The method of dealing and betting is the same as 7 stud, the difference is that you need the lowest ranked hand to win. As in regular stud, only 5 cards play.

Triple Draw is another type of poker games that is getting a lot of attention these days. It is full of action and great fun. If you play it properly, it can earn you lots of money. People play this game at lower stakes for pure pleasure. This is a different type of Razz with a 5 card draw. There is a round of betting after you get 5 cards. By discarding as many cards as you like, you should try to get the worst possible hand. 2-3-4-5-7 is a big thing for standard Triple Draw. Another betting and discard round occurs after the first draw. After the third draw and one more round of betting, it is time for the showdown. No pairs, flushes or straights are necessary to win. You want pure garbage and you scoop the pot.
