When it comes to learning poker games Badugi is unlike most of the common games but it is also easy to learn. Badugi poker is played with four cards and the players have to make Badugi with the lowest cards. Here if you have a pair or three of a kind only one of them will be taken and the rest discarded. For instance if you have a hand of 6, 6, 6, 4- your hand will be of two cards 6 and 4. Again if you have 3 and 8 of clubs, 4 of diamond and 6 of spade, your hand will be of three cards - 3 of clubs, 4 of diamond and 6 of spade. Thus the 8 of clubs will be discarded. Getting used to this system may seem complicated at first so playing and practicing for fun is advised to start with.

A person having four cards of all different suit has a better chance of winning than a person having a pair of two card of same suit. For example x player has 3(c) 7(s) 4(h) A(d), y player has 9(s) 5(c) 3(d) 2(d) and d player has 2(d) 2(s) 6(c) 5(h). In the second hand the cards become 9(s) 5(c) 2(d) as 3(d) is of same suit as 2(d) so it is discarded. In the third hand there are two 2s and two hearts so the hand becomes 2(s) and 6(c) . Thus the first player with four cards of different suits and value wins the game.

Initially four cards are distributed to each player which no one else but the player can see. The game can be played with six players in real life and also online.

Once the cards are distributed one round of betting is done starting from the player on the left side of the big blind player going clockwise. Once the initial betting is done comes the card drawing. Here you get opportunity to draw cards three times to improve your hand. You also have the discretion of not drawing any card if you feel that your initial cards are winning cards. After each round of card drawing round there follows a betting round. Therefore there are four betting rounds.

After the fourth betting round, it's the show round of the remaining players who have not folded. In the end there may be more than two players left who would be playing. The hand is shown and the winner is decided according to the number of cards they have and their values.
