If you have never played 7 card stud or you would just like some information on the subject then this article is for you. Up until just a few years ago 7 card stud was very popular and was the most played form of poker in the U.S.A. The rise of online poker has seen this change as online Holden is a more popular form of poker but you never know in the future 7 card stud may indeed retain the crown. 7 card stud is really a game you should know if you are serious about playing poker.

In 7 card stud the maximum number of player is usually 7 however I have seen 8 players at the table in some rare cases. Although I would not recommend you play with 8. Some cards are dealt face down and some face up giving everyone else the opportunity to see some of your cards. Three face down and 4 face up.

The game starts by everyone placing an ante. Each player is then dealt two cards face down so only you can see and the third card being face up. The player with the lowest card that is faced up (these cards are also referred to a door cards) has to make a token bet or bring in bet. If in the situation that 2 player have the same number cards the player with the lowest suite has to make the token bet.

The game can now start beginning with the player to the left of the person who made the token bet. All players now must match the previous bet; raise it or throw their hand in. All bets including the original ante are placed in the pot. To win what’s in the pot you need to bet or raise and the other players need to fold. Then you will win the pot. I would also suggest that if you haven’t played before I wouldn’t start of by playing for hard cash try it first with your friends for free.

I would try here if you are looking for information on poker rules or if you’re a novice and needing to learn about poker hands.

This may only be the basics on how to play 7 card stud but you can get the idea how this great poker game is played. If you don’t know how to play poker then I would recommend you learn it’s a lot of fun. The website mentioned above is a really good place to start.
