The game of bingo is an enjoyable form of entertainment that is enjoyed by millions of people around the world. The game offers an easy and convenient form of entertainment when played at online bingo sites. The player can enjoy all of the fun and entertainment from the comfort of her own home at any time of the night or day.

The mechanics of the game of bingo are simple. The caller announces a randomly drawn number and the players check their cards, covering the number where it occurs. The calls are repeated until a player completes the required pattern and wins the game. There is no playing skill or strategy involved in the game.

The game of bingo evolved from the sixteenth century Italian lottery. In the United Kingdom, Australia and Ireland, the game is based on ninety numbers and played on a rectangular ticket. there are nine columns and three rows with five numbers on each line. In land based play, the tickets are sold in books where the sheets are color coded for the different games. A regular bingo occurs when one line is completed. Two and three line games are special games where the three line game is the coverall. This is known as house or housie. The ninety number version of the game is known as the British version.

The American version of the game is the seventy-five number version. It was developed in the United States during the years of the Great Depression and became a popular form of charitable fund raising. The game is played on a square five row by five column playing card. One each of the letters of the word bingo appear over each of the columns. There is a free space at the center of the card in the middle of the 'N' column that can be used to complete any pattern that includes it. A regular bingo is scored when one vertical, horizontal or diagonal line is completed. Special games usually involve patterns which are shapes, letters or numbers. Some online bingo sites have catalogs containing more than three hundred patterns, and players who enjoy pattern games can find sites that offer sessions devoted entirely to patterns.

Players can learn more information about the game of bingo by visiting a good informational bingo site. They can learn about the games, offers and events at the different sites, as well as read bingo site reviews and the latest news in the bingo world.
