UK National Lottery UnclaimedSubmitted by Johnny Sorrento Wed, 18 Feb 2009
A huge number of individuals all over Britain play the UK National lottery each week with the belief that they can win that life altering jackpot. You would therefore imagine that these individuals would be in a hurry to check the results as soon as the draw has been completed to see if their dreams have come true. You may then be quite amazed when I tell you that a considerable quantity of prize money never gets claimed.
The UK National lotto is frequently holding substantial amounts of lotto cash that they are just waiting to be claimed. In just the 5 month period from September 2008 to February 2009 just short of £4 million still sits unclaimed by players of just the UK lotto game. These are not just a mass of minor prizes either; there are many in excess of £10,000, a few of more than £100,000 as well as one prize of £1.5 million. If you have gone to the effort to purchase a ticket for the UK lottery, make a habit of checking your ticket numbers the minute the draw has taken place. If you have won a prize, try to claim it at your earliest convenience because the UK lottery rules stipulate that any prize that has not been claimed within 180 days will no longer be payable. The principle reason specified by lotto players as to why they do not claim their lottery wins is because they have lost their tickets. I’m certain that most of us have lost a lotto ticket along the way and have desperately attempted to unearth it in time for the draw but with no luck. Depending on the size of your UK lotto win, there are various ways in which you claim your prize. If your prize is under £200, you can collect your money from any UK lottery retailer in the United Kingdom. When your cash payout falls between £200 and £500 some lottery retailers may still pay out a cash sum of this size but for those who choose not to do this you will need to make a trip to the post office to claim your prize. When claiming UK National lottery prizes of between £500 and £50,000 again the post office is the place where your cash payout needs to be claimed. You will have to enter your details into a claim form, provide your winning ticket as evidence as well as show your proof of identification before being given a cheque for your prize. Cash prizes of this nature can also be requested by mail from the UK National lottery head quarters. Again you will be required to complete a claim form and post your winning ticket as proof of your win. If you choose to request your prize in this manner, photocopy your winning ticket for your records and then post the original via recorded delivery. If you are lucky enough to be calling in a UK National lotto prize of more than £50,000, you have to visit one of the National lottery’s regional centres and request your payout in person. If you want to keep away from ever joining the long line of people who forfeit their UK lottery prize money, you should set up an online subscription plan with the UK National lottery directly. If you choose this option, your lotto ticket payment will always be taken on time and you will be advised of any cash payouts coming your way shortly after each draw. Playing the lottery in this way will make sure that you always end up with lottery cash that is rightfully yours. About the Author
