Greyhound races are popular sports that feature many types of sports betting action. If you are new to greyhound betting, then it is important to understand the assortment of wagers that you can make on the sport. It's important to understand what the bet is as well as what criteria must be met in order to determine whether or not you won the bet.

Numerous types of sports bets may be placed on greyhound racing. One type of bet centres only on the victor in the race. You would place a wager on which greyhound passes the post first. Another sort of bet is a place only. You would select which greyhound would come in either first or second place.

Forecast bets can also be made on greyhound races. With this sort of bet, you would choose two greyhounds that you think will come in first and second place. This means for you to win the exact dog you choose to come in first must do so and the same for the second dog. A twist on a forecast bet is a reversed forecast. Unlike a true forecast bet, the exact greyhound in the exact place does not matter. You would simply select two greyhounds. They can come either in first or second as long as both dogs place in the top two spots. A further variation occurs with a trio, which some may refer to as a trifecta. Here, you would place a bet on the top three greyhounds rather than just two.

If you place a wager on a greyhound race, you may also be able to place a combination bet. These types of bets are placed on multiple dogs, usually anywhere from two to four. It can be combined with a forecast where you say some of these picks will come in either first or second place. If any of your selected greyhounds actually do fill both spots, first and second, you would win.

Depending upon the track where the race is to occur, other unique betting opportunities may exist. Speciality bets may be available to you. These might be wagers over combined results. For example, these bets may feature multiple winners over multiple greyhound races.
