Kerry Ellis, The New Talent From The East

One of the hottest new sensations to hit the theatre and concert scene is Kerry Ellis. Kerry has had leading roles in many musicals and is quickly becoming a favorite amongst audiences all over the world. She has performed in major productions and continues to wow viewers and listeners with her incredible voice and talent.

Performance Career

Kerry Ellis was born in England, where she still resides when she is not starring in a Broadway show or on an international concert tour. She began her career in 1996 and got her first West End performance in the cast of "My Fair Lady" in the year 2000 as an understudy for Eliza Doolittle.

Her next big role was Meat, a role she created, in the stage production of Queen's "We Will Rock You," which she played from 2002-2004. She moved on from that to play the role of Ellen in Miss Saigon from 2004-2006, her first touring role. Next up was the role of Fantine in "Les Miserables," which she began rehearsing while still performing in "Miss Saigon." She stayed with that role through 2006. Her next big performance was that of Elphaba Thropp, the infamous Wicked Witch of the West, in the hit musical production "Wicked." She played that role in New York and London, and only recently ended her run. During this time she also performed in "Chess in Concert" in London. In June she had her own show going by the title "Great British Songbook," where she performed as herself singing music she chose, accompanied by a five piece band.

Singing Career

Kerry's first recording was on a CD for children in need in 1999. She worked alongside Queen guitarist Brian May to record the Queen song "No One But You" that was featured in the musical that she starred in, We Will Rock You. Kerry recently released a CD of songs from the musical "Wicked" sung as a rock CD. It features the songs "I'm Not That Girl" and "Defying Gravity," and also has a new mix of the song "No One But You." She also contributed to a CD for Scott Alan for his album "Keys" called "Behind these Walls." In January of 2009 she performed in the "Champions or Rock" Concert in Sweden. She has been performing in various concerts around the world since that time and is set to continue doing so in the coming months.
