Coldplay to kick off Viva La Vida tour this May!

Having met during their first week at the University College London in 1996, front man Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland spent their entire first year planning a band, starting with the name Pectoralz, but settling on Coldplay years later with other band members Guy Berryman and Will Champion. Since their inception, the original band lineup has remained the same throughout the years, from their first EP Brothers and Sisters in 1999 to the release of their most recent studio album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends in 2008. Coldplay got their first taste of true mainstream success with their hit single "Yellow," and have found continued success since.

Parachutes, their first album, reached double-platinum in the U.S and was well received by critics, taking home the "Best Alternative Music Album" award at the 2002 Grammy's. Since then, Coldplay has either won or been nominated for a Grammy each year, and in their career have won 43 awards and 117 nominations in combined awards, including the BRIT Awards and the World Music Awards.

The Viva La Vida tour will commence on May 15th, kicking off the North American leg in West Palm Beach, Florida, and playing a total of 46 shows throughout the tour's entirety.
