When Elvis Presley gospel started to come out it surprised many people that did not know the King. Most movie and Rock stars are not associated with the Lord or his music.

Those musicians that are known for their gospel music are generally not accepted by the general public. Elvis Presley was the only one to venture in this musical realm and still stay on top of all the charts. This is a feat that was never seen before or since.

Elvis's faith could truly be heard in his music. Just like when he sang Rock n Roll, Elvis put his heart into the music. But unlike when he sang rock songs, Elvis's hips did not move and swivel while he sang gospel music. This music was not to entertain but to inspire.

Some of Elvis's better known gospel songs and chart toppers were How Great thou Art, You'll Never Walk Alone, He Touched Me, Amazing Grace and Take My Hand.

Elvis had many hits including 105 in the top 40 but none of the rock n roll music ever won a Grammy. But in 1967 under the category of Best Sacred Performance, Elvis won the Grammy Award for his version of How Great Thou ART album. With that same album he was also awarded the Best Engineered Album.

He also received nominations for You'll Never Walk Alone in 1968 and He Touched Me in 1972. How Great Thou Art was awarded in 1974 another Grammy as the Best Inspirational Performance with a live version.

Elvis Presley will always be known as the King of Rock n Roll but his true legacy was left in his spiritual and inspiring award winning Gospel music.

Elvis Presley gospel is the best that ever was or will be.
