Feeling that she has helped to open the show to chubby kids, she then takes the next obvious step and tries to take away the racist blocks against African American kids. What follows is a raucous, fun and feel good time that makes Hairspray a winner.

Hairspray stands today as one of the most universally beloved musicals of all time, spawning dozens of touring productions, more awards than you can count and critical praise that most shows long for.
