Learning to play the violin- Play the violin like a master.Submitted by scassa Mon, 17 Mar 2008
Holding the violin in the correct position is one of the first points you have to get right when learning to play the violin, the left arm is placed underneath the body and then over the neck so the fingers are over the strings, the right arm is brought up in front of the face in order to pluck or bow the strings, the chin rest is placed between the left shoulder and the chin. Once the violinist knows how to hold the violin they can learn about fingering the notes this is a major part when learning to play the violin. There are four positions on the violin the first position is at the far end furthest away from the violinists face this gives out lowpitched notes, the fourth position is near the neck and produces the highest notes.
The strings are tuned from lowest to highest G,D,A,E. There are several ways of sounding notes once they are fingered, they can play pizzicato by plucking the strings with the right hand creating a staccato sound or the violinist can drag the bow across the strings creating a long steady sound. If you are serious about learning to play the violin then you should also learn how to read music or play by ear. About the Author
