The Original - Napster - At The Moment Gives Latest Products

Under the direction and guidance of innovative and extremely optimistic CEO, Chris Gorog, Napster continues to take on new ventures. Napster, as you may recall, was the very first music downloading site ever on the internet. Accused of unsavory practices the music industry said they were offering pirated music; Napster was actually shut-down for a time. Like all good fighters, though, Napster did not stay down for long. Instead, they reinvented themselves and are once again successful and growing.

Their latest attempt at continual growth is to offer MP3 Downloads. Once the pioneer in the music downloading field, other sites already offer this service. Among their competition are MP3.Com, Internet Music Underground Archive, LiquidAudio and RealAudio. While these sights dont have the massive libraries that Apples iTunes has, they can certainly be considered competitive. Some of the newer recording artists also offer MP3 downloads on their websites; they arent major competition, though, because they offer only their own music.

The majority of the big record labels are being dragged kicking and screaming into releasing MP3 music for download. They may not be able to continue to resist much longer, however, because CD sales have declined drastically in recent years. This lost revenue, depending upon whom you ask, may result in the millions or billions of dollars. Another factor that may compel record labels to release MP3 music is the incredible success of Apple iPods and the iTunes online music store. Much of this generation of music lovers has never visited a retail music store; they get every bit of their music from downloads on the internet. If the music industry does not want to lose even more money, they might have to let up on the stranglehold they have placed on MP3 music files.

Not everyone thinks Napster can make a go of it in this new realm. Among the skeptics is Mr. Robert Enderle (Principle Analyst for the Enderle Group). Enderle has said I just dont see many iPod or iTunes users shifting to Napster since iTunes software is so integrated with Apple music. Apples ability to dominate the MP3 market is due to the unprecedented success of their MP3 player, the iPod. While other companies (like Zune) produce MP3 players, no one can begin to approach Apples success in this arena. It is true that Apple has a significant edge when it comes to MP3 players and the popularity of the iTunes Music store. Napster knows this, however, and seems undaunted by it. Thanks to the can do attitude of their CEO, Chris Gorog, Napster will give it all theyve got to own their share of this important market.

Just who would be the wrong competition? Most experts agree that the popularity of Apple iPods and the iTunes music store is beyond competing with. Per Enderle I cant picture many iPod and iTunes users shifting to Napster since iTunes software is so integrated with Apple music. Besides, what would compel iTunes users to leave them? Not much, it seems; iPod and iTunes users are very loyal and have a high degree of trust in the quality of and in the services they provide.

Despite the odds, it is not wise to count Napster out just yet. Like a Phoenix rising form the ashes, Napster has reinvented itself a number of times already and remains very successful. There is every reason to believe they will continue to change as the times dictate.
