Singing is really more than just something we do in the shower, it can really empower us and change the vibrations of the soul. Singing connects us with the natural world around us and helps us to connect to being alive. It is really essential to our happiness as human beings.

Our bodies rely upon oxygen and breathing is so very necessary to our lives, that anything to help change the flow or stimulate the muscles that we use to breath, will help us 'feel' more alive. A deep breath before a particularly high or long note can leave our hearts pounding, as if exercising.

If you prefer humming, for example, a Pavarotti impression, then even the vibrations from certain notes can have a calming effect and release stress, particularly with certain songs or tunes. Think of any time you have watched someone settle a crying baby, the 'ah' sound used to try and calm and soothe a baby human being is said to have come from sounds experienced in the womb.

Singing can also connect us to certain people and enhance our relationship with others, most couples will have a couples song but even hearing a song from a time in your life can bring back the full sensations of whatever you were experiencing at the time.

Songs can express emotion that sometimes you cannot really convey properly and to take the emotions and words from a song and let them help you express how you feel about someone or something can be a very powerful tool. Especially for people unable to express their feelings.

Singing in a group can also help us feel a part of a community and togetherness like at a football match, even the most unsophisticated gathering of football, rugby or general sports fans comes with chanting and singing. Apparently this helps with the nerves especially with the big games and serves to intimidate the rival team.

Singing is a powerful tool in your life and can be harnessed to enrich your life and encourage personal growth. Even if you know your voice would not win at X Factor, it is your right to sing regardless because it can simply make you feel really good about life.
