It was the French who can be credited with inventing the photographic process and it all began back in 1827. The historical event happened when Joseph Nicephore Niepce showcased the first ever picture. However, other French men also deserve due recognition for the same line of contribution along photography.

Two Other French Guys

Indeed in 1829, Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre, a French painter with fellow friend and French man Joseph Nicephore Niepce sustained the earlier effort by the first Frenchman in improving the photographic process.

The Results of Their Work

Their work collaboration paved the way for the time reduction in undertsking the photographic process. The original photo that was taken in 1827 took 8 hours to develop and these two man were able to finally take and develop a picture in half an hour.

Photos and Graphing Yield Photograph

It wasn't until 1839 that the word photograph was even spoken though. It was coined by a scientist named John Herschel by combining 2 Greek terms. Those two words are photos, which means light in Greek and graphein which means to draw.

The Negative is Invented

One significant landmark occurred in the early part of 1850 when one person in the name of William Talbot invented the use of photographic negative for producing many photo copies.

The First Mass Produced Box Camera

However, it was the unveiling of the first mass produced box camera by George Eastman in 1889 which paved the way for the emergence of photography . Aside from conceptualizing the said mass production, he also introduced a practical kind of film in support of his invention.
