Your wedding photographs are amongst the most important aspects of your special day. Therefore you must take great care in finding the right professional wedding photographer.

Whether you are getting married locally, or splashing out on a once in a lifetime trip to somewhere far away, you need to find a professional wedding photographer that covers that location. The best place to start is an online photographer directory www.photographypros.com where the photographers are listed by region. Armed with full contact details you can start narrowing your choice.

Firstly ensure that it is permissible for your ceremony to be photographed in its chosen setting whether it is secular or religious. Your venue of choice may have drawn up a set of instructions for photography which you will need to obtain before approaching a photographer. Likewise check with your reception venue to see if they have any rules you need to follow.

You may have an unusual wedding planned. Perhaps you want to be married underwater or hang-gliding over a canyon. It is likely to be more difficult to find a photographer that is prepared to join in or who has the right equipment to undertake such an assignment. If you plan ahead you may find someone who is prepared to learn beforehand so that he can provide what you want.

On a more practical note, you will want to know how much a professional wedding photographer will cost. You may need to revise your plans in order to make sure the important aspects of the day are covered. If the photographer charges by the hour and you have a gap between the ceremony and the reception will you have to pay for those hours also? Or would an assistant be sent along to cover the evening festivities?

Sometimes is it possible to meet with the photographer before the event. This is an ideal opportunity for you to ask to see photographs of another couples wedding to see if the style of work appeals to you. Perhaps you can see testimonials of previous clients to find out if they were happy with the results. You will definitely want to cover any problems that might arise such as the camera not working on the day, or a last minute cancellation and how they would be solved. Does the photographer have contingency plans for wet or cold weather? Keeping your guests outside in such circumstances may not make for wonderful photos!

Check what sort of camera the photographer will use, film, digital or video. Does he favour traditional shots, a modern photojournalistic approach or a mixture of the two? Will he fit in with your wishes?

Before you make your final decision you may want to find out how you will see the proofs. Will he post them to his website for all the guests to peruse. How long will you have to choose, and how long will the finished photographs take to arrive?

On a site www.photographypros.com you will have find many professional wedding photographers to choose from. Hopefully this article will help you pick the right one for you.
