Vintage posters come elaborating upon many a themes. All of them, however, make a statement about their collector's choice and an eye for detail.

You can pick up original vintage posters from genres as varied as art, travel, cars, war, sports, wine, food— all of them carry themselves with a piece of history. Browse the gallery of gaily painted vintage posters to take your pick. The Davis Cup of 1983, Peugeot cycles, or Lazzaroni biscuits, take a trip down memory lane with the best of the past. Gifting these retro collectibles at least half a century old will surprise and delight any old chum.

Originally commissioned as advertisements, vintage posters are hard to come by today and can light up a living space like few paintings can. Antique images from a bygone era are a refreshing spark of original human creativity in today’s digital age. Looking at an advert for Cognac Pellisson, with a comely maiden toppling under the weight of a liquor barrel, will evoke your sense of humour and up your vintage spirit. Chateau de Windsor, a tranquil French cottage on the banks of a river, comes alive in a 1913 poster to transport you to the Paris of the past.

Then there is a vintage poster dating back to war-time 1918, reminding citizens, “Food is ammunition: Don’t waste it”. Patriotic slogans, stars and stripes, flags fluttering in the breeze and national symbols rendered creatively to evoke a sense of belonging and nationalism are still effective, even after a century since they were painted. An Uncle Sam poster for the Army, which says “I want you for US Army” almost makes you want to pledge your life for the good of the country and approach the nearest recruiting station.

Vintage posters can add colour to drab walls, brighten up someone’s mood and make the perfect gift for friends, family or even as a farewell gift for colleagues.
