Planning the Perfect Super Bowl XLII PartySubmitted by gigmasters
By Kevin Kinyon
As the excitement builds, the tradition of the Super Bowl becomes ever closer. The emotions behind the predictions of who will play - and who will win - are passionate, as football fans keep their eyes on the biggest day of the year - February 3, 2008. Will it be Patriots vs. Giants? Chargers vs. Packers? It's anybody's guess at this point. But one thing's for sure… diehard football fanatics as well as people just looking for a reason to get together will be throwing some of the most exciting and outlandish parties ever seen! If you're up for throwing a serious Super Bowl celebration, you've got lots of options when it comes to entertainment. Some of the most memorable have included Hawaiian dance groups, fire-eaters and Elvis impersonators. With such a wide range of choices, it really depends on your taste and your party theme. Entertainment Pre-game, post-game, halftime and during all those commercials, you'll want to have some entertainment for your guests. Whether you're hosting friends in your home, participating in a neighborhood block party or having a corporate gathering, DJs, live bands, stilt walkers and more make your Super Bowl event something that will be remembered for years to come. With live performers, you not only get someone who can provide music or other forms of entertainment, but you also get an emcee that can keep the party going. And these days, with Internet-based booking services, you can quickly and easily find local entertainers of all sorts. Super Bowl Themes Seems like the Super Bowl would be a theme in and of itself, doesn't it? It can be. You can certainly hang inflatable footballs from the ceiling and stick masking tape to your carpet to mark off the yards. But if you want to punch up your party a bit, include a theme based on some other aspect of the celebration. For instance, this year's Super Bowl will be hosted at the University of Arizona Stadium. If that doesn't scream "South of the border," I don't know what does. What types of entertainment would work well with this theme? Cover bands that feature Gloria Estefan or other popular Latino singers, salsa dance bands, Latin bands, fortune-tellers, magicians and many others. Menu for Your Party You'll want to bring your theme into every aspect of your party… including the food. Yes, typical Mexican cuisine like tacos is great, but for the Super Bowl, take it all the way! Look for Tex-Mex recipes online that are unique and easy to eat while standing (or jumping up and down screaming at the TV). Burritos would work well with this food theme since they are folded and can be eaten with little mess. If everyone at your party is pulling for one particular team, create a menu based on that team's home state. For instance, New England Patriots fans might have clam chowder (or should I say "chowdah"?) and other local favorites. With the three most important aspects of your Super Bowl party all wrapped up, you'll have the time of your life, as you watch your team go for the glory! About the Author
