Attending Broadway shows in New York City can be one of the most entertaining things to do in the metropolis. Once the best show has been found and the tickets have been acquired it helps to have a plan. It would be a genuine shame to have the ideal trip set up and then miss half the show for not being prepared. There are some basic things to consider before heading out to a big city such as New York.

Know The Time

Check the tickets and make sure you know the time of the show. Furthermore, make sure to plan around the time of the show. Do not show up last minute, try to get there at least a half an hour before the time on the ticket. The venue will have the doors open so that patrons can enter the theater thirty minutes before show time. Take advantage of this so you can get any snacks or use the restroom and be ready for show time. The lines may look overwhelming at the doors, but they will move quickly. If you have tickets that are to be picked up at the venue then make sure to plan the arrival even earlier.

Plan The Travel

When going to see Broadway shows in New York City have your transportation plans in the books. This is a city not to be messing around with. Most New Yorkers use the subways, and they will provide the fastest and the least expensive way to get to the theater. If the subways cause dismay for you or the family then you can use a cab but be mindful of any traffic problems. Driving in and out of New York with a vehicle is not that bad but the parking costs are extreme and traffic can become a problem.

Once In The Theater

Once in the theater take advantage of the useful employees. This will save time, just ask where the best entrance for your seats is. Once at the entrance wait or call to an usher and allow him or her to seat you. Usher's will also have the playbill to provide for the Broadway shows in New York City.

Show Etiquette

First Things is to make sure that your cell phones are off. Not only do cell phones annoy the audience it is impolite towards the actors. Having a loud cell phone ringing during a crucial part of a musical or play will be an embarrassing incident. Try not to talk often through the production, and if there is a need for chatter keep it down to a faint whisper. After the show ends do not rush up and out of your seats. It is common etiquette to wait for the cast to take their curtain call before dashing out.

Going to see Broadway shows in New York City is a memorable experience. Make sure that the experience is memorable in a favorable way. Having such a fun trip planned only to have it ruined by poor preparation would be a shame. Remember to account for all the little things such as traffic and lines as well as picking up the tickets. Make sure to let the employees of the venue assist once in the theater. All the etiquette for seeing a Broadway show is common sense but in the thrill of the moment may easily be out of mind. Follow these tips and it will promise a great time on The Great White Way.
