Watch Tv on Computer

Submitted by plrpro

With High speed internet access within most peoples reach your computer has now taken on a new role. Many people enjoy watching TV on their computer. You can always stream tv shows from places like nbc.com or abc.com. Just over the last few months many tv shows can be watched online.

What many people want to do is channel surf and watch tv live as it happens. This can be done in multiple ways. The first is purchasing a sling shot box. This device basically uploads the channel stream onto the web and you then login to watch your TV from any were in the world. The down side is you have to purchase the device and still pay your cable or satellite bill. Setting up the device is not too hard. You do need to run a network cable to the box. For most people this is not an issue but depending on your setup it may not be feasible.

The other most popular way to watch live TV is to use a Satellite to PC program . In a nut shell you purchase a program for 50 to 300 bucks and you get to stream live Satellite feeds. Many of these programs offer 3000 plus channels. Just like cable most channels are junk but you will find a few gems. I’m a SFI fan and my cable company does not carry it. So having this program is great for me. It’s also nice for those who are on the road a lot. There or some sites out there that stream some channels but the quality is poor and there are tons of ads. For the one time payment of the software it’s worth it. You do need high speed internet in order to use the program. DSL and Cable work great but dial-up will not. Another thing to point out is the channels are from all over the world. So if you speak an alternate language besides English you may really like the satellite to TV program.

If your computer is in your home another way to stream TV to your computer is to use a video capturing card. Basically you need to have your tv on the channel you want to watch and then capture that program using the tv capturing card. From there you can watch and record the program on your computer. Most people may say why not just watch the program on the TV. Everyone is different and your needs may be unique.
