3 Very Good Reasons For Arranging Travel Medical InsuranceSubmitted by webmark
For most people travel insurance is simply one of various extras which the travel agent will try to get us to add to our holiday package to help boost his profits and make our holiday even more expensive than it already is. Nevertheless, there are at least three excellent reasons for not leaving home without your international travel medical insurance policy tucked safely into your pocket.
First, travel insurance will protect you against losing all of your money if an emergency crops up which forces you to cancel your trip. This is especially true in cases where you are arranging your holiday well in advance because you never know what might happen in the weeks or months leading up to your departure. Having said this, by their very nature emergencies have a habit of appearing at any time and without notice which makes this one form of protection which really should not be considered in terms of time. It is natural to believe that nothing is ever going to happen to us however a holiday trip can often involve a considerable up-front payment and the loss of this money could well mean that you cannot re-arrange your trip at a later date. Second, travel insurance allows you to pay for medical treatment both while you are traveling and in your destination country and, if you have a significant accident or illness, will also meet the cost of bringing you and your family back home if this proves necessary. Medical treatment could well be excellent abroad and it might even be very much cheaper than it is at home. Nevertheless, a day or two in hospital might still result in a very large bill which eats deeply into your spending money. It is also possible that medical treatment abroad will leave a great deal to be desired and you may well need to cut your trip short and head back home for the treatment you require. Third, travel insurance will protect the value of your possessions both while you are traveling and abroad so that you will get compensation in the event of loss. If you are a frequent traveler then you will probably have experienced the loss of your luggage at some time and will know just how inconvenient and costly it is. I shall not forget stopping for a bite to eat on my way to the airport at the end of one particular holiday and very carefully securing my bag in the trunk of my hire car. When I returned approximately half an hour later I found that someone had forced the passenger door lock and folded the back seat down to get into the boot and make away with my case. I will also not quickly forget sitting at a road junction one hot and sunny day when a motorbike pulled up beside the car and a boy reached through the open passenger side window to snatch my mother's handbag which was on the floor by her feet. Traveling overseas is expensive at the best of times but heading off without adequate insurance cover can result in bills that you simply cannot afford to pay. Accordingly, the next time you are making plans for a trip remember to add international travel medical insurance to your vacation list. About the Author
