Check Out These Seven Methods For Saving Cash In A Recession

The following are seven secrets to saving cash that you can implement now:

Saving Cash Method 1 – Know Your Money

Yep – it all starts here folks! You have to know clearly what is coming in and what your outgoings are every month. The key reason why folks spend too much cash and often cash they can't afford is because they are not in control of there money.

Saving Cash Method 2 – Just Buy Necessities

Work out monthly what your crucial expenditure is. This will in all probability include rent/mortgage payments, groceries, commuting expenses, utilities (phone, electric, gas), memberships, car loans and so on. Once you have subtracted this from your income you will have so much left over for your monthly budget for other things. It is this area that you need to look very closely. Don't waste cash on non essential items.

Saving Cash Method 3 – Don't Use Credit Cards

Another simple way of saving cash is by using a cash or a debit card when making purchases. This is far better than using credit cards as there is often no perceived limit when using credit cards. If you use cash then this will probably make you think hard about spending money on unnecessary items as it will significantly reduce the amount of money you immediately have available.

Saving Cash Method 4 – Make A Record Of Your Spending

Saving cash is often a subconscious problem – because you don't know your financial position you feel that you can just spend whenever you want. By keeping records of everything (every little detail) of your expenditure you will soon build a clear picture of your spending habits. If it's possible to get a receipt for your purchases then do so.

Saving Cash Method 5 – Use Coupons

Coupons are widely available. You probably receive newsletters from many supermarkets and other stores so try them out. You can also find coupons online. Search for the stores that you use and see what special offers they have this week. You could even schedule your weekly menu around these offers.

Saving Cash Method 6 – Keep Your Visits to the Shops Short

This can be easily achieved by having a list of precisely what you need prior to visiting the stores. Studies have revealed that those people who spend more time in stores are more likely to spend more cash than those that go for the shorter stay. Also those that visit the stores without a “list” will be much more prone to impulse buying as they are not organized.

Saving Cash Method 7 – Unplug Everything

Saving cash with your electricity bill is simple – just switch everything off that you are not using or you have finished using. How many times have you left your TV set on “Standby” the whole night? Stop this now – it will cost you a lot of money over the time. Also if your heating and/or air conditioning is controlled by thermostat turn it down to a sensible level. If you are out at work or elsewhere program the timer to turn it off and turn it back on again just before you get back home.

Saving cash is really all about discipline and conditioning your mind to not only check all of your spending but also to examine your purchasing habits and those of others in your household. It may seem difficult at first but after a little practice it's pretty easy. A tip that will really help you is just to think to yourself “Do I really need this?” when you are considering spending money on an item that is not essential for you. Give it a try it works every time.
