Rebuild credit: it is never too late

There are many ways for consumers to rebuild credit and raise their credit rating. The problem is most people with bad credit just do not know how to. With a little knowledge and effort your score can be raise to above the threshold of the magic 720 barrier.

First if you have the money make good on credit accounts you have defaulted on in the past. When consulting with these companies request that you rehabilitate you past due account. This is allowed by most credit and lending institutions but they do not advertise it nor will they make you an offer to doing so. The idea has to come from you. Generally your bad credit marks from these institutions will be wiped off your credit record after less than 10 on time payments.

If you still have use of credit cards never let the balance rise above 25 to 30% of the credit limit. Above this point hampers your ability to increase your credit score. The opposite is true a zero balance will also hinder your credit score. Maintain a small balance or use your credit card at least once a month. These small amounts of on time payment will you appear to be a good credit risk.

If possible have a savings account. When there is enough money, approximately $1000 or more. Take a small secure loan out with this savings account as collateral. Paying back this loan will improve your credit rating.

If you can have a family member or friend that has good credit that would allow you on to their account take advantage of it. Their good credit will be transferred to you as long as both of you maintain on time payments.

These are just a few ways to rebuild credit. As a consumer do your research and pick what is best for your situation.
