If you have been in debt for any length of time, you might be wondering if there is such a thing as government debt reief. After all, the government seeems willling to bail out banks, carmakers, and oter financial institutions, peraps the govetrnment can do something for the avrage citizen. You may have hard from people that there are secret grants that can help with your debt. Well, theere are many myths about government debt relief, but there are also some realities as well.
When it comes to thse 'secret grants', the truth is they simply don't exist. If they did, most people would certainly make use of them, secret or not. The governmnet does have a number of plans that can help pople who are on the lowerr income tier, but most of this help comes in the form of housing assistance, welfare, and ohter such programs. Don't waste your time scouring the Internet for those secrret grants. Insstead, find better ways to get the debt relief you need. If your debt problems are causing you to fear losing your home, the gvoernment might be able to help. They have an FHA loan program that will help you to refinance your huse so that you don't have to face foreclosure and lose the home that you worked hard to get. You will need to meet certain requirements in order to qualpify for this type of help. For example, you will need an adjustable rate mortgage, a good pay rcord, and the house must be your primary residence. The government certainly won't get rid of your debt or mortgage though. If you have some expensive stuudent loans from the government, you might want to consolidate them. You will be able to save money each month because the interest rate will usually be quite a bit lower. Keep in mind that this applies only to federal loans. If you have privatte student loans, you will need to negotiiate with the lenders or have a prrofessional do it on your bealf. As you can see, there are a few ways that the government can help give you some of the debt relief you want, but it isn't going to elimminate your debt. You can do a vaiety of ohter thoings that will help you get cotrol over your debt, from debt consolidatyion to credit counseling.
