Common Mistakes Made While Selecting Trip Cancellation InsuranceSubmitted by terrowhite Tue, 11 May 2010
For frequent travelers, trip cancellation insurance comes as breathers. There are many uncertainties while on travel and some are almost unavoidable. While things not going your way may make you feel miserable at such times, the loss incurred adds to it.
Thankfully, you can minimize the financial strain by seeking the cover of the trip cancellation insurance plans, but there are some common mistakes that deprive you of this joy too! Mistake 1: Be Indecisive of Period of Cover Any of the trip cancellation insurance plans will have a fixed period for which you will receive the coverage. You must be sure of an optimal period for coverage rather than hastily investing with a vague idea. The premium amount you will have to pay depends on the duration you select and so either overestimating or underestimating the duration will prove to be a handicap. Mistake 2: Overlook Details Insurance companies have a way of letting us know the exclusions only at the time of claims. If you care to know, you must clearly elicit the details of exclusion clauses form them before making the payment for the policy. I have come across many cases where people have landed themselves in trouble without having any idea about the exclusions. This can put you through a lot of stress when you are in trouble and try to make the claims. Mistake 3: Accept any Policy at the Earliest According to me, this is one of the most common mistakes made. Most of us have an attitude to procrastinate until we are forced to make a decision at the earliest. Due to lack of time, we select a trip cancellation insurance that takes least time for processing. During this process, we may be paying more than what we actually have to. If we plan well ahead, we will have time to compare the prices among many policies and know which serves us the best. The internet too has a treasure of information and resources that can be wonderful pointers and help us make the right choice. Mistake 4: Opting for Limited Coverage There are some policies that provide coverage under a variety of circumstances which include various modes of transport. These would include trains, air travel and even travel by bus. These are the generic policies that give us maximum benefit. Other covered circumstances are hijacks and strikes. These days, however a lot more circumstances have been included for coverage. Find one that will help you gain out of any situation that you encounter during the travel. Finding the right international travel insurance is not very tough if you are determined to make it as economical and beneficial as possible to you. You have various resources like the books, friends and internet that can assist you with all information necessary. Also, remember that no matter which resource you use to find your information, always get it cross checked through the insurance executive before you make the final decision to invest in the policy.
