family health insurance

Family health insurance is no laughing matter. A stint in the hospital or an extended illness can be so expensive that you’ll never be able to pay the bills. Health costs are a one of the major reasons for bankruptcy.
Health insurance can be obtained in several ways. The first way is as a benefit of employment. If you’re in the position to get free or reduced cost health insurance through work you’re in great shape. Welfare programs through state and federal sources also offer health insurance as a safety net for people on public assistance. Others, such as the self-employed or employed who do not have work-related insurance, must buy their own. This is where the financial burden of health insurance is most keenly felt. Not only do you pay the deductibles, you’re also responsible for the premiums.
Having good family health insurance is critical. Being covered in the event of a trip for you or a family member to the emergency room, a stay in the hospital, appointments with the doctor and even prescriptions is a financial life raft in an otherwise deadly financial storm. Being without health insurance for your family is a real problem that demands immediate action. Being uninsured or not carrying enough health insurance is a gamble you don’t want to take.
Most family health insurance policies start by covering major medical bills. These policies cover the most extreme cases and are the least expensive. As coverage increases to cover for doctor’s office visits, the price goes up. Most of these policies also have a deductible and then pay eighty percent of the claim, leaving you responsible for the remaining twenty percent. The premium policies pay for prescriptions and may cover ninety percent of the costs after you’ve met the deductible.
