Saving Money on your Car Insurance PremiumSubmitted by henry007 Sat, 15 Aug 2009
Unfortunately, car insurance can be very expensive living many people broke at the end of the month. So what should you do? Well there are a variety of different ways and techniques to lower your payments. This is exactly what you need to be reading if you are having trouble paying for your car insurance. Some companies will not even tell you about all the car insurance deductibles that you are able to receive. They will just let you pay the full price and let you suffer in debt. Keep reading to learn more about these deductibles, so that you save money on your car insurance every month.
First off there is the multiple car discount policy. If you insure more than one car with the same car insurance company or even some other policy such as home owners insurance, you can save 10%-25% on your car insurance premium. Most companies will put this discount in automatically, but on some occasions they will not. Make sure to check this one over with your care giver. Next way to get a discount is through driving school. By going through driving school you have the ability to save a big chuck of change. Depending on where you live, you could be saving $45 or 10% each month. A big discount is through student discounts. This one is great for parents to know of. If you have not heard of it before, this is where you get rewarded if your child has good grades. Good grades can equal up to saving 15%. Another helpful hint while we are on the topic of student drivers, is if you do in fact have a child that drives, try listing yourself as the primary car driver and your child as a secondary driver. Does your car have air bags, anti-theft, anti-lock brakes, or other safety equipment? You probably will have at least one of these, if not all of them. Surprisingly you can get a discount on your monthly premium. Certain rules apply to this discount, so contact your insurance agent for more information. Since we all drive our cars everywhere this next discount probably will not apply to you. If you drive under 7,500 miles a year, your car insurance policy will and can be altered to change the amount you pay. We are not just talking about nickels and dimes either, but try taking 45% to 55% off your payments. If this applies to you, be sure to get things settled with your insurance. Thinking about raising your deductible? Well doing so can make your monthly and yearly payments much cheaper. Sure, you will be paying more in the beginning for the deductible, but over the course of a year, you can be saving a lot of money on your car insurance. Lastly is taking off collision coverage off of your car insurance policy. You may be thinking this is crazy, but this is not true for everyone. For example, if you drive an old beat up pickup truck, and are thinking about getting a new car soon, is it really worth paying a couple hundred dollars extra for collision coverage? If you got in a wreck and it is your fault, your insurance will cover the other vehicle, but yours will be left out of the mix; giving you the extra incentive to get another car. You will be saving a lot of money and it is completely worth it.
