The reasons why you need a travel insurance policySubmitted by dominick.davis5 Wed, 1 Jul 2009
When you are looking through travel brochures, excited about the prospect of vacationing in some far flung hotspot, all the things that could go wrong while you are over there probably could not be further from your mind. Yet there is no getting away from the fact that these things could happen, so it can pay to arm yourself with a little travel insurance. Here are just some of the reasons why:
If you became the unfortunate victim of theft abroad, then you might have a lot of trouble recovering or replacing your possessions. A travel insurance policy featuring cover for lost or stolen possessions could really help in this instance, although you still have to be a little careful with your belongings if your claim is to be successful. Falling ill or injuring yourself can put a real downer on your holiday experience, especially if you are not adequately insured. The NHS only provides free care to UK citizens while they are in the country, so while you are abroad you will need some kind of health insurance policy. Most travel insurance policies cover the cost of emergency treatment and an airlift back to the UK, but will not pay for long term private treatment abroad. Taking your car abroad or hiring a car when you get there can give you a lot more freedom on holiday, but if something were to go wrong with the vehicle or your hire arrangements and leave you without a mode of transport, your holiday plans could be in tatters. Thankfully, some travel insurance policies cover the cost of emergency car hire in just such a situation, which could get you out of a real fix. If you need to postpone your trip due to unforeseen circumstances, it could end up costing you an arm and a leg. Not only would you probably lose your deposit, but you would also probably be hit with some fairly hefty rescheduling fees. If you had bought a travel insurance policy with postponement cover beforehand, however, then this would not be nearly so much of a problem, as the insurance company would then be obliged to cover these costs. If you want to be able to relax on holiday without the threat of financial disaster hanging over your head, then you really do have to take out a travel insurance policy. If you are a regular traveller, you might want to look into annual insurance plans, which can cover you for a number of overseas holidays with just one document, which is a lot easier and cheaper than buying separate policies for each trip.
1stoptravelinsurance.co.uk single trip insurance provides cheap travel insurance cover for holidays of up to 365 days to any destination.
