Extend Your Money's Buying Power

Submitted by markgrant

If there is one thing that people of all backgrounds want with regard to their money, I would say it is to extend its buying power. To illustrate, think about your latest grocery shopping experience. If you are anything like me, you would have a list of the things you need.
While browsing the aisles, you would have a rough estimate of how much your bill is going to be. At the same time, you would be thinking about how much you can spend on this single trip. More often than not, you would have to miss out on one or two non-essentials because they wouldn’t fit into your budget. Either that or simply go over your budget. Sound familiar? I bet.
So how can you make your money go further? Here are a few simple tips.
Avoid paying full price.
Oooh, if only we could do this all the time – but yes, there is a way to avoid paying the full price for many everyday items. Think about sales and not retail. Supermarkets regularly put certain items on sale. If I were you, I’d take note of when they are placed on sale and then buy several at a time. This is a bit tricky as some people have the tendency to over buy and thus negate the positive effects. Remember, buy what you need and only enough to last till the next sale period.
Think about vouchers as well. These discount coupons should be used - that’s what they are here for. Do not be embarrassed to use them just because other people may think that you have no money. So who cares if they think that way? Remember, it is you who is saving money here.
