There will always be a way in which somebody will probably part with your money in a unique yet illegal way, especially when looking for a home or basically when in foreclosure. You need to watch on those you work, ensure that they are reputable organizations or else you end up becoming a foreclosure fraud victim.

Here are some of the tips for avoiding foreclosure fraud or becoming a victim of foreclosure:

1 Never make any payments before you receive the service

You should never be corned into paying thousands of dollars for any service, in fact most approved housing and urban development departments offer counseling cost-free or If any payments are a must that they have to be made, then they do so at fair and much cheaper prices. You should not in any case agree to work with counselor who will demand for payment before he serves you or one who accepts payments done only through cashier’s check or wire transfer. In short you should never make payments to anyone unless you know exactly the services they are going to offer you and not until they serve you.

2 Be wary of guarantees

A reputable and approved lawyer will not in any case guarantee to stop the foreclosure process. You should be aware of those people who keep promising, it is better if you have all the transactions and promises into writing before you get on t something else. However working with an approved counselor will lessen the chances of becoming a foreclosure victim, and most importantly keeping your home.

3 Beware of what you are signing and be sure you sign it

Never let a counselor to force you into signing documents you haven’t gone through carefully. Make sure that you understand each and everything that you agree signing, never allow the counselor to fill forms for you. it is better to talk with an attorney before you get into signing a document that transfers the title of your home to someone else.

4 Listen to your instincts and learn to believe in them

If you feel deep inside you that you are going to be a victim of foreclosure fraud, then don’t waste even a single minute, seek help immediately. Look out for any suspicious schemes and report any immediately you notice any.

5 work only with nonprofit, approved counselors

Whenever you are looking for help to prevent foreclosure, make sure that the counseling agency helping you out is registered under the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s list of approved agencies.

It is always important to do enough research before you take any step. Research on the agencies you are working with to avoid unnecessary fraud, keep your mind set and focus, be observant and always watch out for the unexpected; be ready to deal with any outcome. Save your home from falling into the hands of foreclosure scammers.

However if you follow the above tips, then you will have less problems in dealing with capable foreclosure scammers.
