How to find the Best Rate Mortgage Deals Today

Submitted by uswitcharticles

Interest rates have been held at half a per cent in the UK so if you are looking for a mortgage now, lenders won't be changing their rates in response to this months decision. That means you don't have to rush out, find and apply for the current best deals before they are gone. You should however do thorough research before applying for a mortgage deal.

To find the best rate mortgage deals by all means do see what your bank is offering, if you deal with a building society then they do sometimes offer branch only deals that aren't externally promoted other than posters in branch windows. More often than not though you will find your bank doesn't offer the best deal with the bigger players usually offer good rates for one type of account like a savings account and not ranking so highly for say a mortgage account.

Using a mortgage broker is the best advice. They are independent with many offering whole of market where they will search every deal on the market to find the best rate mortgage deals. With the credit crunch many have started charging a fee because less people are taking up mortgages therefore commissions are lower. There are however many brokers that don't charge a fee for their service so you can benefit from their experience in the market and expertise and if you decide not to go ahead at the time with the mortgage you haven't lost anything.

If you are a first time buyer then the average deposit required is 25% which is a massive amount to save, many are apparently using mum and dad to borrow for the deposit. If you have the luxury of being about to put up a sizeable deposit you can get much better rates as you are lowering the risk to the lender. They will reward you for borrowing less with a much improved mortgage rate.

To find the best rate mortgage deals the advice is to shop around, look out for special offers at your local building society, check the press and ask friends if they have had a good experience with a fee free mortgage broker.
