Online Stock Broker for Novices and Experts Alike

An online stock broker needs to cater to both the novice and expert trader. There are many people interested in online stock trading and they have varying degrees of experience and differing needs.

Some online stock broker websites are geared towards active traders. Active traders are high volume traders that need fast executions and typically little support. New online stock traders need more tools, more support and greater flexibility. Between those two groups of traders lie the majority of online stock traders.

A good online stock broker will be able to cater to all of these groups by offering different programs, pricing and tools. Barron's rates online stock brokers every year and you should try to find one with a 4-star rating. These companies offer a strong service, good pricing and the tools needed for most online stock traders.

If you are looking for an online stock broker you should research their Barron's rating as well as review their website to understand their pricing, the tools they offer and what the various levels of service are. Keep in mind many online stock broker companies will offer multiple levels of service meaning each will have its own pricing structure.

You should have a sense of what your needs may be and ideally the company will offer you a test run of the system (a virtual sandbox, enabling you to test the system prior to using your actual funds). Not all online stock brokers off this tool, however, a good one will let you test run the system.

In addition to testing the system you should give customer service a test run. Give them a call ask some questions see how well they respond to you and how comfortable you feel with the responses you receive.

Some online traders will rarely use customer service and will use few if any of the tools available. The bulk of traders will, however, and that is why it is important to see what the online stock broker offers and what it do not offer. The more information you have the better off you will be when choosing your online stock broker.
