When selling a home it is imperative to make the home as appealing as possible to as many people as possible. This typically means painting the walls in neutral lighter shades. Darker colors can make a room look gloomy if they are not properly decorated and lit.

To showcase a home properly there should be clean and open paths through all the rooms. Try not to have furniture blocking the viewers access to any aspect of the home. Ideally buyers will be able to "flow" through the home, taking in it's highlighted areas and features. Make sure you spend some time ensuring that these things are readily evident to anyone and your showing should produce much more interest.
