Different Types of ShadesSubmitted by DeirdreGonzales Mon, 1 Jun 2009
Windows are very functional in a house. Aside from opening up your house to light and air, it also serves as a good accent to an otherwise bare wall. There are many ways of accentuating windows. Most people use curtains to accentuate a window and as a window covering. According to an expert on Real estate Philippines, more and more people are going beyond curtains and instead, are exploring the use of window shades or blinds instead.
According to Wikipedia, a window blind (sometimes also called a window shade) is a specific type of window covering which is made of slats of fabric, wood, or metal that adjusts by rotating from an open position to a closed position by allowing slats to overlap. The use of these window shades is becoming even more popular especially among those who have condominium units as their Philippines properties because they are easier to maintain than curtains. Below are the different types of shades you may use if you're thinking of changing the look of the windows of your Philippines properties. * Roller Shades. These are usually made of vinyl fabric and are wrapped around a dowel. Braided strings are also sometimes used to accent the design. A roller shade is made up of one whole sheet so it's perfect if you want to completely block out the sun. * Pleated Shades. These are among the usual favorite when it comes to window shades. These are made of layers of polyester fabric which is scrunched up to make an accordion style design. These are durable, long-lasting, and can be used for years. They are versatile and offer a wide range of light control. * Cellular Shades. This type of shade is functional and attractive. They have an insulating feature, both in terms of sound and temperature. * Roman Shades. These shades hang flat when lowered and fold up neatly when raised. They also have good sound insulation. * Venetian Blinds. This blind has horizontal slats, one above another, and suspended by strips of cloth called tapes, or by cords. Using these tapes or cords, all slats can be rotated 180 degrees in unison. They can be made of plastic, metal, wood, or even bamboo.
