Fresno, Ca.- Agro-Industrial and Educational Center

Fresno California has a population of almost 500,000 people.
It is located in the Central Valley of California, and has a
metropolitan area population of 1 million. Fresno is in the
center of an agricultural region, and has a lot of food
processing industries, though not as much as it used to.
Fresno is also the gateway, and the largest city near the
kings Canyon, Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks. The climate
is sunny and dry. A good way to get to see the Fresno area is
by walking the 67-mile Blossom trail, which goes through miles
of fruit orchards and vegetable farms. Companies such as Kraft
Foods and Foster Farms have plants in Fresno. There are also
other manufacturing and distribution plants in the area.

Fresno is an educational and medical center for the
Central Valley. This is one factor that can make Fresno Real
Estate more attractive, when it is near major medical and
educational facilities. California State University ( Fresno
State) has many undergraduate, graduate and other programs.
It holds 23,000 students on a 327 acre campus. There is an
additional 1,000-acre University farm adjacent to the University.
There is also Fresno Community College, with 21,000 students and
the University of Calif. San Francisco Medical School (in Fresno).

The Save Mart Center was completed just several years ago,
and is home base of the Fresno State Basketball teams and
the Fresno Falcons. It is located next to Fresno State
University and also is the site of many popular music
performances.

Downtown Fresno is one of the last remaining examples of
untouched pre-war architecture in California, though it has
also undergone a certain amount of urban renewal. The historic
Fulton Mall and Chinatown are two downtown areas with historic
buildings. The 10-square block Fulton Mall area also contains
public art, sculpture, and fountains throughout this central
business district. Two miles northwest of the Mall is Roeding
Park, which contains the Fresno Zoo. The performing arts are
centered at the William Saroyan Theatre which features the Fresno
Philharmonic Orchestra and the Fresno Ballet. The downtown
district also features the Fresno Convention and Conference
Center, which a 168,000 square feet exhibition hall, and an
11,000 seat arena.

Neighborhoods to check out for Fresno real estate include
Sunnyside on Fresno's far east side, a fairly affluent area,
and Old Fig Garden, a fancy neighborhood of about 6 square miles.
Van Ness Avenue goes from downtown to a boulevard that leads to
Fresno's most expensive and impressive homes.
Fresno Yosemite International Airport is the largest airport
in the area. The airport serves an estimated 1.2 million
passengers annually on both domestic and international flights.
Fresno Chandler Executive Airport is located 1 1/2 miles west of
downtown Fresno and serves as a general aviation airport.
Passenger rail service is provided by Amtrak. Fresno is on the
main Amtrak line, and potentially, the high-speed rail-line that
it is hoped will be built from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
The main passenger rail station is the recently renovated
historic Santa Fe Railroad Depot located in Downtown Fresno.
Several railway lines that carry freight cross the Fresno area.
