Giving away your hard earned cash when you sell your home.

Selling and buying a house is a emotional decision. Selling your own house can be very rewarding, exciting, and lots of fun. It is some work, but almost certainly not as much as you think. Estate agents often ask for a commission somewhere in the range of 6% of the total cost, that can quickly amount to £20,000 to £30,000 on the sale of a nice home. When a home is sold, as in, house for sale by owner, you can frequently barter a lower price because there are no estate agent commissions to be paid from the sale.

Homeowners are beginning to realize that they have the power to sell their own property and keep more money in their hands. When considering selling your own home you have to ask yourself some serious questions, and not get caught up, emotionally with the house you have lived in for however long.

Ask yourself if you were a buyer, would you buy a house that you did not emotionally connect with to develop long lasting memories in. If your answer is no, then you may have to consider what you could do to your home to make it more presentable to prospective buyers. Clean and polish all surfaces that might collect dust. Remove and store away any personal items that detract from the presentation. Clean the windows inside and out to bring in more light. Cleaning and preparing your house for a home visit is only a part of your effort. Some potential purchasers like to drive past, and rely on that initial impression.

I believe we have become a bit complacent in our quest for convenience we appear to eagerly give away a years salary to someone that has just turned up at your home walked around it, taken a few photographs and measurements and then gone away and sat in an office and posted up some details in their window, the local paper and internet. All of this you can do yourself in a weekend. £20,000 or a couple of days work????? I know which selection I prefer, are you aware that you can do it on your own behalf, just search the web and make an informed decision. By using search phrases such as Sell my flat, Sell my house and sell my house onlie you can find brilliant resources to sell your house, for sale by owner.
