Good Real Estate Investment Opportunities in Santa Barbara

To start, you want to look at areas that are ripe for commercial development. To make a good Santa Barbara real estate investment, it is important that you choose areas with Santa Barbara commercial realty for sale in high-traffic areas. You may pay more for such properties initially, but the investment in an area with a great deal of traffic significantly increases the chances of success for your business.

A good area for this is The Mesa, which is a popular area of Santa Barbara due to its rich history and rustic natural beauty. Some great examples of businesses that should consider purchasing a commercial real esate in this area would be retail-clothing stores that specialize in outdoor clothing, sporting good shops and natural health food shops. Mesa’, which means ‘table’ in Spanish, is a vast flatland, and a common name for plains areas in the southwest. The Mesa in Santa Barbara stretches from Arroyo Burro to the Santa Barbara Cemetery. There are now more hilly areas in the region as well, due to Spaniards and Indians that lived in the area during the 1700 and 1800’s.

Currently, much of the Mesa region is still used for agricultural services, since the soil is very rich. Crops like beans and corn are grown in the area often, which means you’ll be able to get these items, as well as squash and barley from the local farmer’s market. The area is only recently becoming somewhat urbanized, since farmers did not want to ruin their farms in the 1980’s and 1990’s to make room for more commercial or residential land. What this means is that Santa Barbara commercial real estate in this area is likely better for agricultural-oriented businesses versus urban-type industry.

Other areas of Santa Barbara you that boast interesting and unique investment opportunities include Eastside and Montecito. Eastside was ‘created’ in 1851, when State Street was formed in the area, which helped the area develop from a Mexican pueblo to a village that was more ‘American’ in nature. Properties in this area trends towards bi-lingual businesses that cater to the large Hispanic population. Moreover, Eastside is also home to one of California’s Chinatown districts, a home of Asian-inspired foods and shops, so finding good investment properties in this area can be more of a challenge.

There is an abundance of real estate in these areas; it just takes some searching to find which region fits your specific investment needs.
