Manitoba a Growing Province of CanadaSubmitted by folusho
Manitoba, a name that means spirit, is one of the ten provinces of Canada, located in the Red River area. This place, besides containing the artic deep sea water port at Churchill also forms the only shipping link between Canada and the rest of Asia. Most of Manitoba is flat and as a result it tends to face a bit more of the extreme weather than any other place. Weather or not, the people here are warm and ever-ready to make you feel welcome.
The real estate in and around Winnipeg and Manitoba developed slowly as a result of the ‘live off the land’ policy of the early settlers. But these days, with a vibrant economy and with a blossoming population, the real estate prices are soaring indeed. Where there were just a few realtors there are now hundreds of them. Given that, it is only natural that the prices of the real estate would soar. There are neat opportunities available here for new businesses. The Manitoba economy is a simplified version unlike the one down south in the United States. Here at Manitoba, the federal grants are in surplus which has given the consumers here more confidence and increased their spending as well. The investment environment is a bit more conservative than the one in the United States and as a result of that, the effects of the recent ‘sub prime’ crisis are yet to be felt here. In short, the Canadian economy, and in particular the economy of Manitoba, is well insulated against such things from taking place in the future. Manitoba’s transportation sector added nearly $2 Billion dollars to the GDP last year. With the transportation sector on the go, the other sectors of the Manitoba business are not all that far behind. The government of Manitoba has introduced various schemes over the years to increase the innovativeness of its citizens and today, as a result of such proposals, Manitoba has a well centered business development model which reaches out to all of its citizens today. With $2.7 Million dollars in funding under the Canada-Manitoba Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), this would only mean an upsurge in more opportunities and more companies taking advantage of such opportunities. Of late the telecom sector has surpassed itself with its own growth rate for this year. With most of the industries performing quite well, one can indeed say that the economy of Manitoba is resurging. Most of the federal surplus gets siphoned off back into the local business by way of federal grants. This, in turn, means more money to the people and more business opportunities for them. Manitoba may have been known for its extreme weather in the past, but those are the days of the past as the economy and the businesses that make Manitoba make themselves felt the world over!
