Tucson Repossessed Homes

Submitted by juliethompson
Tue, 4 Aug 2009

The name Tucson brings forth visions of gunfights and the days of the Wild West with saloon girls dancing next to a piano and log rides up cemetery hill to bury the dead gunslinger shot by the sheriff. Today the town of Tucson is a far cry from its western heritage and it is actually a very modern city by any standards.

One thing that the town has in common with the rest of the country today is a very bad housing market where there are more foreclosures and home repossessions than at any time in the history of this great nation. The job market is bad and the housing market is worse. People are seeing the homes they have paid for fall to prices and values that overnight have turned a situation full of equity in the house into one where they are actually in a negative equity situation that will take many years just to get the value above water.

Unfortunately a large portion of people are choosing to let the homes fall into foreclosure and be repossessed rather than attempting to salvage what is left and trying to weather the economic storm that is drowning the country today.

What this is doing is creating a large number of homes in every price point and every style and location that is imaginable. There are homes from mansions to shacks and almost every type in between available in the Tucson area these days at prices that can only be described as cheap.

The market here at the moment has lost close to 75 percent on average and if the next wave of foreclosures actually comes as expected, homes here will be practically worthless meaning that people are in the process of literally losing everything that they have with little hope of recovery.
