At this time the way in which your motorcar tax has been calculated has been divided into seven bands, however, this year that figure has gone to 13 and along with the bands addition so are the punishments. Just like before, the cars that have high emission will have to bear more in motorcar tax than those with low emanation.

Anyone that registered a cars before March 1, 2001, the amount you pay in auto tax is defined on the size of your engine whereas cars registered on this date or later are taxed by their discharges. The car tax rate for aging motorcars is distributed by the size of the car engine in two categories - smaller than 1549cc and greater than 1549cc.

The car taxation rates for newer motorcars is determined by the emissions and spread into bands.

A - Up to 100 CO2 discharges (g/km) - no car taxation
B - 101-110 CO2 discharges (g/km) - £35
C - 111-120 CO2 emissions (g/km) - £35
D - 121-130 CO2 emissions (g/km) - £120
E - 131-140 CO2 discharges (g/km) - £120
F - 141-150 CO2 emissions (g/km) - £125
G - 151-165 CO2 emissions (g/km) - £150
H - 166-175 CO2 emissions (g/km) - £175
I - 176-185 CO2 emissions (g/km) - £175
J - 186-200 CO2 emissions (g/km) - £215
K - 201-225 CO2 discharges (g/km) - £215
L - 226-255 CO2 discharges (g/km) - £405
M - Over 255 CO2 discharges (g/km) - £405

This is just the initiatory. If you buy a cars that is a contaminating model, you will also have to bear what is known as "one-off first-year taxation", this could be up to £950. For those purchasing green motorcars, there will be no taxation.

For anyone that still has inquiries or is wondering just how much motorcar taxation they will have to give can determine an online car taxation reckoner that will help them know the correct amount as there are discounts that can be taken off the amount. With the car tax estimator you will be able to use an online tool that you will type in specific info that will help set your car tax.

If you are not firm how much CO2 your car gives off, you can also learn this by using live instruments where you will input the make and model of your vehicle. The year of course will also have quite a bit to do with the discharge. The positive news is that you can also find kits that will allow you to modification your automobiles to a more fuel efficient vehicle and receive deductions.
