Tax preparation fees: it worth the extra money to get it right

Submitted by articles@irs-help-tax.com

With the tax codes getting more and more complicated each year the tax preparation fees are increasing each year. This is justified because of not only all the changes each year but also the last minute changes that most taxpayers that prepare their own taxes are not aware of.

From 2005 to 2007 the increase in the price of fees from a tax preparer was only about 2% from $201 to $215. This was for an itemized form 1040 with a schedule A and a state tax form that most home owners would file. For tax payers that did not itemize the price is almost half at $115. This was up by only $5 from two years prior.

Each year the tax code is changed by congress. Sometimes it is for the good of its citizens but most of the time it just make this already complicated system of rules and regulations just more complicated. When congress makes changed at the end of the year, this make the process of doing your own taxes less advisable since only a professional can keep up on all the changes.

As for other fees of other forms that tax preparers do for their clients there is an every increasing amount that is dependent on the money that is involved with each individual form. For business involved in partnerships there is an average charge of $518 to the form 1065 and for corporations the form 1120 cost is $685 for preparing.

The highest price for preparation a preparer charge is for the estate form. For this form 706, the average price is $1,729.

On average the highest fees for the nation are paid by tax payers in the pacific states that include Alaska, California, Hawaii and Washington.

Tax payers are getting use to paying tax preparation fees because of the complicated tax code that will get worse as long as congress keeps making the changes.
